Brno - the contrast

The city of Brno is the second largest city in the Czech Republic. An interesting mix of modern, old, new, run down, the city offers quite an interesting landscape of things to see.

Špilberk Castle

The castle sits on top of a hill in the middle of the city and offers on the best views of the whole city. If want a leisurely walk, go there. Also, the castle houses the historical museum of Brno.

Námětí Svsobody

If you do anything in Brno, you will eventually end up at the central square. It is bursting with locals enjoying their coffee in various cafes or Czech beers and Moravian wines in the bars.A bit out of place, there is a modern monument that is often the subject of jokes. It is a black monolith, used as an astronomical clock, although although in reality is just a normal clock. Every day at 11am, the clock releases a glass marble that can be caught by someone lucky enough to catch it!
